Spring Tournament-Robin Hood Golf Club 15/5/13

Robin HoodThe Spring Tournament was held at Robin Hood Golf Club on May 15th. The course was presented in immaculate condition by the Course Manager Andy Wood and his greenkeeping team.

Although the weather was wet during the afternoon, the day was enjoyed by almost 40 players with many making comment on the excellent work undertaken by Andy during his time at the Club. The Club Captain, Mr George Archibald joined us for dinner, concluding the day by giving us an insight into the course development over the past 5 years or so.

The day was supported by our sponsors, many thanks to Simon Banks of Banks Amenity for the prize table on the day, thanks also to our four nearest the pin sponsors being, Sherriff Amenity, Countrywide, Whitemoss and Redtech, and as always Farols were around the course providing refreshments.

The results of the day can be found here, as can all adjusted handicaps for the Everris doubles and next golf tournament which is at Penn Golf Club on 10th July.

CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT

The Christmas Tournament was held at Sutton Coldfield Golf Club on Monday 3rd December, with a fantastic turnout of 40 golfers. A full English breakfast was followed by a draw for partners playing an American greensome format around the stunning course set in Sutton Park. The golf was followed by a full Christmas dinner, attended by 52 people, many of which attended to say a fond farewell to Alan Kite, the outgoing Course Manager who had been at the club for almost 50 years. It was wonderful to see so many old faces, and a fitting tribute, rounded off by a “this is your life” hosted by Steve Blakeman, a long term friend of Alan’s and Rigby Taylor rep for many years.

The main prize table was sponsored by Working Turf, with the nearest the pin prizes sponsored by Sherriff Amenity, Whitemoss and Countrywide. The Sloe Gin and chocolate around the course was sponsored by Farols, and thank you to all other trade members who brought prizes for the raffle.

The winners were Richard Beacham and David Brazier, 2nd Steve Thompson and Nigel Tyler, 3rd Ed Stant and Bob Pilsbury. Nearest the pins were won by Paul Woodham, Adam Jones, John Lewis and Dave Fellows. Well done to all who won prizes.

Finally, congratulations to Alan Kite for such a magnificent achievement in reaching 50 years at one golf club, and very best of luck to his replacement Craig Beet who has a wonderful golf course at his disposal.
